The past few weeks I've been working my tooshy off to get the new blog set up. Set up new domain. Switch to WordPress. Figure out the completely new (to me) interface. Work with coding AGAIN...ugh for CSS & HTML. Customize to my liking. There are still a few kinks to work out & they are plaguing me! I couldn't wait any longer to roll it out though. I kinda love it! Logan's All About Me Session ~ Murfreesboro, TN Photographer

It's true. I have a 10 year old. 1-0! That's double digits! I've been meaning to take him out all summer for a birthday shoot all about him (All About Me sessions for older kids are something I've been thinking about for a while now...more on that in a bit). We finally found the time this past weekend. We incorporated some of his favorite things and went for a little more of an urban feel.

All About Me Sessions:
I'm gonna go on a little rant now. Bare with me. It seems that when kids get to a certain age the creatively professional pictures stop. I can think of a number of reasons for this...
The kids hate taking pictures.
Their skin isn't as crystal clear like it was in the early years.
They're going through an awkward phase.
The dreaded Braces are needed.
The only thing that you have besides snapshots throughout the year are those horrid school pictures! Elementary & Middle school aged kids have sooo much personalities!! They have very certain likes/dislikes, favorite outfits, best buddies & opinions. Just think about what can be captured when you get the kid involved! Let them choose outfits. Let them choose the location. Let them choose all of their favorite things to incorporate. Remember them exactly as they are in this moment.
Make it All About THEM!

Ethan is ONE!

I was so excited to get to photograph Mr Ethan again! He has the most adorable little dimple you could pretty much swim in and blue blue eyes (I'm partial to the blue eyed boys having one myself) that look like a reflection of water. Yea, a lot of water references going on there. So we met at a local place known for its small town charm that I haven't shot at in a while. The clouds kept darting in & out threatening rain. It did sprinkle quite a bit but, we decided to just go for it and run for shelter if need be. I was hoping for that early morning sun to test some abilities but, alas, there was none. I'm pleased as punch with the results though! And Ethan was a charmer.

*on a side note: I have been scouring the internet for any type of old soda crate boxes because I am SO.IN.LOVE. with this gal's home (7th photo down)! Plus anything that can work double duty as home decor & prop I'm game for. Found a guy in Goodlettsville selling 4 for $20. 4 for $20!! And yes, I drove all the way to a bike shop in goodlettsville for it.*

A Decade Together

Here we are. Ten married years in the making! Sometimes I can't believe it's been that long and others feel like a lifetime;) We have had some pretty awesome highs and some not so awesome lows. But, our commitment to each other has never waivered. We are in this for the long haul & that's a pretty amazing feeling.

The only piece of advice I can give is to grow together and not apart. Keep each other in the loop on how you feel, what's piquing your interest and thoughts for the future. We actually grew up together and could have very easily grown apart. We didn't and I'm thankful.

I love this guy more today than when we first started dating almost 14 years ago! Growing together will do that to ya. Here's to a thousand more years as The Deckers.

Miss Paisley is 2! ~ Murfreesboro, TN Photographer

We had a TIME with sweet Paisley's 2 year session. First off, every photographer's nightmare happened to me. The camera quit. Thirty minutes into the session. Just plain quit! Battery charged, lens cleaned, memory card in place and it gave me nothing. We re-scheduled. Next try was an early morning & Paisley was just not in the mood to be photographed. Now, I've never had this happen either! I can always walk away with plenty to choose from but, she had other plans. I pulled out all my stops and nothing was working. I decided it was best to just try a different day. Maybe another afternoon session 'cause she was ready to rock it on the first scheduled afternoon session. So we re-scheduled. And.She.ROCKED.It! I got more than enough of this adorable trio. Seriously, the good looks in this family are just not fair!!

Sometimes patience is key when working with kiddos. I'm so glad the 3rd time was the charm because I have soooo many favorites from this shoot! I literally had a smile on my face the whole time I was working on these.

The Second Annual Faces of LRP contest was a full-blown success! There were a few early front runners that came out playing to win. And who wouldn't want this sweet sweet deal;) I always love seeing others get as excited about these images as I do. It's been one of the highlights of my year the past 2 years. The friendly competition between contestants, the sharing of love through "Likes" & the relentless work that some put in to win a print. 'Cause there really isn't anything better hanging on walls that photos of the ones you love most. I may be a little biased but, I think I have the best looking clients around! YES, this is the only way to like an image but,
why wouldn't you want to ;)

If someone links to the LRP page asking for "Likes" can't I just "Like" their link?

NO, I wish I could say yes but, those links don't show up on the LRP page and there's no easy way to track them. Keeping everything in one spot helps me keep track of votes and you keep up with whose on top!

You stated I could "Like" an image multiple times but, it's not letting me. What's up??

Welp, I was wrong! You may "Like" as many images as you want but, there's no option to "Like" an image multiple times. Sorry 'bout that! Completely my fault.

Will COMMENTS count?

NO. Only "LIKES" on a photo will count.
It just makes it easier for everyone.

So what exactly do I have to do to help my friend win??

About 2 weeks ago we headed to Charlotte, NC for a cousins wedding. It was a bit of a rough start! Brynn got strep the day we left then she fell off the bed (small sleeping quarters meant she slept in a big bed for the first time ever) and hurt her neck pretty bad! She slept on palettes on the floor after that! The wedding was beautiful & it was so great to catch up with cousins we don't see much. The day after the wedding we all (cousins and aunts included) packed up and headed to the beach!
It was relaxing with a dash of chaos. I know the little cousins had sooooo much fun together!

So for the Father's Day giveaway shoot we (meaning Bethany...thanks girl) got permission to shoot at a spot I've been dying to try out. It did not disappoint! The fields, the honeysuckle smell the old red barn...it was all perfection. Not to mention the adorable kiddos. I've been wanting to meet sweet Ella since she was born. Her and Brynn are only 2 weeks apart and we have tried to get together for 3 years now! Man life goes fast. Well, now Ella's a big sis and one of the cutest little girls I've ever met. It took her no time to warm up to me and she really knows how to work that camera. Little brother wasn't so bad himself. Not a peep out of him! Just a sweet, squishy sleepy newborn. I am so so glad I got to capture these images for Bethany and just know her hubby is gonna have the best Father's Day Gift eva!

Can't wait to head to the splash park with you guys this summer!

Miss Caroline is no stranger to this blog. I love that I get to capture her sweet personality so often! She ran up and gave me a big hug when we met up this past week. The location is gorgeous and the weather was perfect, however, the bugs...OH The Bugs! They were everywhere! Cicadas, mosquitos, bumblebees...But it didn't stop me from grabbing these beautiful photos of her. I can take whatever comes at me when I get home and see results like these!

When I got an email entry from Mrs. Bethany I was beyond thrilled! She's a friend I don't see often enough considering the distance. However, if she lived here, I know we'd have many many playdates;) I also know how much she prayed, questioned & went back and forth with her husband about how they could manage her being able to stay home and raise their kids. After all those prayers, they made it work and I am so happy for her and their family! I know how bad she wanted this. Reading her email about how much her husband supports and loves her brought tears to the eyes. May we all be so lucky.

Here's the email from Bethany about her wonderful husband:

Bless this man God gave to us! Never in my life have I seen someone sacrifice so much in order for me to be home with my babies. His day starts at 5:30am for job #1, then heads to job #2, to end his day with job #3. As the sun sets he comes home to us, Me, his 3 year old little Angel and his week old son, with a smile on his face and kisses for all. he does this all in the name of love! **Not to mention he loves pictures of his babies and I know this would be the most rewarding Father's Day present we could give to him! (This picture is minutes after the birth of our 2nd child, Ethan John, he was so proud! You can see just how big his heart is in this picture.)

FINALLY!! A sweet squishy little newborn. Baby M's mom and I met at a nature class they have here in town. Her & her family just moved here from the north & I adored her from the start. She let me use her sweet little girl to try out some new props. I've had a vision for a while now & I think they turned out superb. I needed to get my feet a tad wetter in getting babies in smooshy positions and lullilng them back to sleep. She was such an easy baby! Waking only a little when I'd move her and with a little magic touch she was back in slumber land. I'm hoping to add mom & Big Sis Olivia in a few this week.

Not only did Easter bring me good food, friends, fellowship AND a 10th birthday but, it also brought me back with this amazing family. I've written about the amazing Wright Family before here and about how I adore them all! It's been 5 years since I've seen everyone but, it seemed like yesterday! I was welcomed in like I still lived next doors and was 10 years old looking for a playmate! Since everyone was gathering for Easter (many states separate this group) they wanted photos. DUH! Ofcourse! Who wouldn't want to capture these moments;) By the way, her parents live in an amazing lake house aannnndd that was my backdrop. I just hope I can bring my family up there for the 4th of July so we can really catch up!

My amazing friend and owner of Cuddle Bugs Gifts, April, has recently finished her spring line.

Ofcourse she needed photos of these adorable kiddos in her fabulous frocks! I was happy to oblige. We had scheduled for this past Saturday but it was Nas-Ty outside. So we moved it to Sunday. It was still cloudy out but, thank goodness, no rain! I had a vision for this shoot and I'm pretty sure I accomplished exactly what I wanted! Apples, buckets, pinwheel flowers, watering cans & old dirt roads. Muy perfecto! I had such a hard time narrowing down what to show but, here's my top faves of each kiddo. We have a couple boys to finish up with this Friday (rain rain stay away) so, stay tuned for the boys spring line!

Bakc in January...YES JANUARY...I had an amazing shoot with a friend of mine who makes clothes. She wanted professional looking pics for her Etsy store. We had planned on a small Valentine themed shoot and are planning more for Spring. Status Update~Where Have I Been

My computer has died.

Motherboard fried!

ACCKKKK!! I've been going insane!

I was sooo excited to get the post up from the Valentine themed shoot I did!

I teamed up with April from CuddleBug Gifts to shoot some of her adorable Valentine inspired clothes. It was gorgeous! Snowy woods, dangling hearts and even a little candy. We even had a casting call...but you only would've known that if you *shameless plug* follow me on Facebook ;).

THANKFULLY I saved all the images to a disc before the Epic Fail and was able to get a few out to Arpil to use for her site. If your child was one of our darling models, don't worry! I still have the images ready to be re-touched with love as soon as I am up and running again. Gosh, I had soooo many ideas & plans running through my head for this new year and everything came to a crashing halt. I'll be back soon my friends. Never Fear.

Another images I am finally able to share! Katie wanted to use a chalkboard to write Thank You on and send out as Christmas Cards/Thank You's to the guests. Well I've been meaning to use a chalkboard prop for a while now so this was perfect! I couldn't find one I liked for the right price so I made my own. Bought the unfinished wood frame from Hobby Lobby 1/2 price & the ribbon from Michael's. Add a hot glue gun and voila! Perfect. Elegant. Chalkboard.

Keeping photos under wraps until families get their Christmas cards out is very difficult to say the least! When I see something like these images below I just wanna share them with everyone. ESPECIALLY when the little bugger looks as adorable in a Santa hat as this little fella! You might remember him from his 3 Month Session just a few weeks ago. Mom was waiting on this adorable handmade hat to come in to get their official Christmas card shot so, I obliged when she asked if I'd come snap a few when it arrived. And I mean look at this kid!

I have no idea how she chose one for the card. I was there for just a few minutes before I had to run and I got soooo many images of him & his hat. I have no idea how she chose but, she did. The cards are out & they are precious.

Benton & Katie Got Married (Part I)~Murfreesboro, TN Photography

I came away from this wedding with over 700 images &
had a very difficult time narrowing that number down!

This day was filled with sooo many emotions.
The father giving away his only little girl.
The mother who gained a daughter-in-law.
The remembering of those that are no longer with us.
The tears of happiness shed by a little girl gaining a new step-dad.
The overwhelming bond felt by this new Family of 3.
I guess these are emotions that are felt at most weddings but,
for some reason, they felt much stronger at this one.

I'm glad you asked!! I thought & thought & thought about this one.
I had a few ideas but, they just weren't personal enough to me. Then it hit me.
I remembered seeing these adorable 3x3 albums a while back and always wanted to try them out. They are customized (by me) to each client, fit perfectly in your purse & come in sets of 3!! That means you can keep one & give the other 2 as gifts to family members. You know grandma would love having something she can carry around and show off.

Oh where to begin with this beautiful lady...she was my first real friend.
My family built a house next to hers when I was around 8.
The next decade or so had us carpooling, family tripping, sharing laughs, love & tears.
You name it, we've been through it. I heart her entire family. Grandparents & cousins included.
I was beyond thrilled to get her message that she wanted me to do her photos for such a special time in their lives. Even though they live 5 hours away, we were going to make this work. And I would be the one that captured the anticipation & excitement this time brings!

A little over 5 months ago I photographed this hot mama while Baby Ethan was still in her tummy. Now here he is in all his 3 Month Glory!! We settled on the beautiful Oaklands Mansion for this shoot and man was it beginning to feel like fall! Especially at 9 in the morning!! I suspect the leaves around that place are gonna be absolutely gorgeous in the next week or 2. I know Ethan has an adorable little smile with the touch of a dimple but, he was way too focused on what the heck was going on this day. We may not have gotten that smile (maybe at his 6 months ;)but we definitely got that pouty little bottom lip!

Kelly was one of my first "clients" and found me through a mutual friend. When she came over to discuss Caroline's 1 Year Shoot the conversation went past what Caroline would wear that day. We started talking about our lives. Then we started getting together and letting the girls play every once in a while. Now we usually see each other once a week & talk every few days! We became fast friends and she has been one of my biggest supporters. Always tossing out compliments & spreading word of mouth. It's THE most encouraging thing to have people like Kelly in your corner. Don't forget, if this post gets 20 (yes I upped it) comments on it The Moodys will get a sweet little present. Wednesday mornings mean Nature Class for Brynn. Today before class I decided to go out on the trails and find some signs of fall since today is the first official day of fall and all. I don't know about YOU but, I am more than ready for some fall weather. The colors are to die for & the weather ain't so bad either. One of the main reasons I heart Tennessee is the seasons. We *normally* get to experience every season and I'm ready for each one when it comes. We've got some amazing trails to walk in these parts. Here's a little from our excursion plus a SURPRISE friend we found along the way. *shudder*

The one on the right reminds me of a sword fight.

Do you see that glimpse of a spider web in the corner near the sun!?

Everytime I'm out here it takes me back in time. I'm reminded of the battle that took place right here in our town way back in 1862. I can just imagine soldiers hiding behind some of these large rocks. It's crazy to think that if our city had gone untouched

this is mostly like what it would look like!

Ahem, speaking of our friend...I took this shot thinking, "I really like this hole in the tree surrounded by the beutifully exposed wood under the bark! Hmmm that's a strange little growth on the hole." Yes, I thought it was part of the tree. I walked about 2 feet off the trail to get this and was maybe a foot from the tree. It was not until I got home & loaded the pics to the computer that I found what I was REALLY starring at!

Ahhh you Sneaky Lil Snake!!

I can only imagine what was hidden in the depths of this hole!

To conclude, I'm pretty sure FALL is on it's way. The leaves are turning magnificient shades and should be absolutely perfect for the MINI SESSIONS!!

Where to start with this family?? Miss Macy's mom & I have been friends for quite sometime now and I adore her. She has an amazing heart, isn't afraid to speak her mind & is always level-headed (well, most of the time;). Our sons are buddies and now our daughters will be too!
We met very early one morning and went roaming some local parks. It got very hot very quick but it didn't phase Miss Macy. She got a tad fussy once, put herself to sleep for a bit and voila! Perfect Angel again!

Twin Sisters Home

About a week or so ago I got a call from my cousin. He was planning on selling his house! GASP! I couldn't beleieve it! He needed photos of it for promotional stuff. That's where I come in. It is beyond gorgeous with original doors, baseboards and hardwood flooring. Even the doorknobs are original. It lives right off the square in a town where everybody knows your name. This house dates back to the late 1800's and is known as the Twin Sisters House. There's a story that many moons ago, twin sisters built it and the one right across the street. They are pretty much identical houses.

Normally, I wouldn't show a photo shoot like this but, My Oh My This House!!!

I just had to share.

Don't you just want to sit on that porch with a

big slice of watermelon and chat with your neighbors!?

Look at that wood! It's everywhere and it's beautiful!

This bathroom has the original window frame, tile work and mini cabinets.

The "study". I coud definitely get some studying done in there!

Floor to ceiling bookcases and yummy light. Mmmmm

I could sit in this room and read or listen to music or play with the kiddos ALL DAY!

This is the sunroom if you can't tell.

Out from the sunrrom is the screened in patio that looks out onto the HUGE backyard complete with inground pool, vegetable garden and composting center.

I mean really, can you get any more relaxing than this? I think not.

I met this beautiful lady while working at my other job. She has recently turned 25 and wanted to do something for just her. To celebrate the person she's become and to document this moment in her life. I don't even think she told her hubby about this shoot!

I was BEYOND thrilled she asked me to capture this for her! I mean, really, how many times do we (myself included) put off pictures of ourselves because we have nothing to wear or we just aren't the right weight or we just plain don't feel pretty enough! Before you know it that era of your life is over. Not for this lady!

She seized the moment and, for that, I envy her.

That and the fact she kept busting out with these fabulous shoes!

I had a blast girl! Seriously, I NEED to borrow those yellow shoes!

I knew this shoot was gonna be AWESOME with a capitol AWE when Autumn sent me some ideas for what she liked! By the looks of things she was up for pretty much anything and she's got the body to rock it! I saved some of the more "special" ones for just mom & dad.

A little backstory, Autumn was one of my very first friends freshman year of high school. We hit it off immediately *ahem when I asked her for a pencil in ART class ahem* and have been friends ever since. We've gone through a lot together and been there for each other for even more. I am so honored that she wanted me to capture this time in their lives. Can't wait to meet you Baby Ethan!!

If you've ever attempted to get a good photo of your kids you know how difficult it can be. I'm not just talking about a good photo you can send via the web or print off as a 5x7 or 8x10. I'm talking a canvas worthy photo people! This is hard for everyone INCLUDING those that actually photograph other peoples families for a living! Why is it so much harder to get a photo of my own kids but, with others there's no trouble?

Fun in the Sun and following through with a 30 in my 30's

Today was a scorcher so I decided we needed to do a little cooling off. Logan got home from school, kids had snacks and we got down to business. Swimming suits on, sunscreen on water hose...not so much. I'd planned on letting them play in the sprinkler or the waterslide but, I can't get the darn spray nozzle off the hose!! "

Oh well", I think, "I'll just spray them with the hose!"

Just as we're about to head out someone has other plans.

The sky turns dark and a light rain shower beings!!

Buy.My.New.Camera!
Get a Fisheye Camera. They're totally cool!
Make photobooks once a year of my family.
Eat healthier and learn how to cook it!
Be more patient with my kiddos. They're still learning too!
Attend Church REGULARLY!
Create new logo for prints and web.
Go on vacation. Just us. To wherever.
Pick strawberries & blueberries from a local farm and make delicious stuff from them.
Run/Walk the Middle Half Marathon.
Sign Logan up for the Kids Fun Run.
Be a better wife & encourager.
Get Brynn potty trained!

Blue Eyed Kids~ MURFREESBORO, TN PHOTOGRAPHY

This was probably my fastest session yet and I got so many great shots it was hard to choose! The kids were AWESOME! Very cooperative & a tad spunky. Just what I need! It literally only took me right around an hour for 3 kids separate and together. I was SHOCKED when I looked at the time we left. I went to HighSchool with mom and dad (actually we met in middle school) and probably haven't seen them since! Considering I'm turning the Big 3-0 tomorrow, that's a long time. The weather was gorgeous, the kids were adorable & getting to chat with the parents after 10 plus years made for a great day.

Meet the oldest Jonah. I have to brag on him for a minute here. Literally every time I tried to catch him just being him, he'd see the camera and give me the biggest most genuine grin ever! No catching him off guard but, that smile is priceless.

I asked him what he thought of having 2 little sisters and he said,

"Ohhhh it's just the Best Things Ever!"

Like he was so in love with those 2 little girls.

Melts My Heart!

Anna Grace was so darn funny! She had the best facial expressions and definitely knew how to work a camera. You shoulda seen her sass!

She was a tad more reserved than the other 2 but, every once in a while she'd pop out of her shell! The camera loved her. Red hair & Blue Eyes=Beauty

Meeting up with a friend you haven't seen in a while to photograph her Sweet New Baby Girl makes for a very fun day. See, Mom & I went to HS together but weren't really friends til later. I haven't been able to see her much lately because, well, life gets in the way I guess. Especially now that she has a newborn AND an almost 2 year old. WOWZA!

So when she asked me to capture her baby Reese's first few days of life I jumped at the chance! Plus, I FINALLY got to use my Baby Cocoon prop I've had for months. MONTHS I tell ya! Waiting on just the right baby and here she is:

I can not even tell you how EXCITED I was about this session! Not only did I get to see my old college friend again but I also got to meet her 2 sweet boys! Mom & I had MANY classes together our last 2 yrs. of college. In fact, there was a group of about 5 of us that were inseparable! We helped each other, completed a huge campaing for class together and became great friends along the way!

I knew I couldn't really plan too much for this session seeing as how her boys are 2.5 &1. I figured they'd lead the session a little more than I would and I was happy to hand over the reigns. I think they did pretty darn well and we got some awesome shots of

Katie is a sweet 3 week old whose mom found me through a friend. She wanted some photos of her new baby girl in her Easter Dress! So this shot was more of a mini-session. We did, however, get one of my absolute most favoritest shots I've done so far! Katie would wake every time I tried to move her but it didn't take long to get her back to a peaceful slumber.

When mom contacted me about getting shots of her family she had a heart-warming story to go with it! Her husband is a soldier and fights hard to protect our great country. A call came down the line saying he'd be deployed over seas...possibly on the front-line! I can NOT imagine what this family must go through everytime the phone rings! The joy & pride of knowing that you're doing something to help so many mixed with the terrified feeling of the unknown.

I am in awe of a soldiers dedication.

This family was so stinkin fun! The girls were absolute dolls and I'm pretty sure I came away with a new lil buddy. Dad & mom were so in love with each other it only takes minutes being around them to realize this!

This next one is probably my absolute FAVORITE!! I would totally get it enlarged.

This little gal hung by my side the whole time! Adorable.

High Point Restaurant Wedding Monteagle, TN

A call came down the line back in the fall from my cousin. She was getting married and she wanted me to capture all their special moments of the day. I was thrilled! But, I was even more thrilled when she told me the location.

High Point Restaurant

Now if you've never heard of this place or had the pleasure of dining there, you're truly missing out on an amazing experience. Legends & stories surround the old stone house that's nestled in the Monteagle Mountains. Stories of under ground tunnels and escape hatches on the roof run rampant through these parts.

As legend will have it, Al Capone helped fund this magnificient three-story house. He used it to transfer liquor in the 20's & early 30's. He thought it was a good middle point between Chicago & Florida.

Can you even imagine the feeling you get when you step in this place!? Thoughts of intrigue and mystery paired with images of secret rendezous' and deals gone bad make for an evening to remember. A step back in time.

So basically, shooting at this location was thrill enough for me. Imagine my surprise when they emailed saying how much they liked my images and they wanted to use them for their website! Ummmmmm, Yes please! You can view them by clicking HERE

What a Lens can Do For You! And the Difference Between Manual & Automatic

There is so many wonderful people/photographers out there that take the time *almost daily sometimes* to give others tips, tutorials, useful links, etc...! I've learned and grown through many of these and wanted to take a minute to give a little back.

Today I got out my handsome son's old Thomas The Train stuff for my darling daughter to enjoy. Thomas was a huge part of his toddler years and I wanted to capture them playing together. I strive to always shoot on Manual with no flash.

Well this morning in the playroom we had both windows open (no overhead light) and I just couldn't quite get the Exposure right!

I had on my standard Lens that came with my Canon.

You'll notice that the Aperture only opens to f3.5 but only to 5.6 most of the time.

So with my Apreture as low as I could get it (5.6)

My ISO at 1600

(I hate hate hate going higher than 400 because of noise but nothing was working this morning!)

And my shutter speed was 1/50.

A good rule of thumb is to not take your shutter speed down lower than the focal length of your lens. The focal length on my lens is 55mm so I was actually a little low.

Anywho, this is the best I was getting using no flash:

Noisy!

Dark!

BLAH!

THEN I decided to bust out my new Lens!

You'll notice you can open the Aperture to 1.8

However, the lens is at a fixed 50mm (no zooming) which is hard to get used to but with a $100 price tag it really can't be beat!

So with my Canon on Manual

Using No Flash

I took my Aperture down just a tad to 3.2

ISO still 1600 *Gahhh*

Here's what kinda yummy light I was working with

Still a little noisy for my taste but much much better overall!

No editing was done to either of these.

Please ignore her blank like stare and food stained mouth (hence the no editing)...

we've been sick around these parts.

And again with the same settings...colors are true to real life:

Lesson Learned:

You don't have to spend fortunes on a lens to make it work for you.

When I captured this shot of my darling daughter a few days ago I knew I had the perfect shot to join in on the contest!

The blistering cold that TN has been experiencing finally paid off and we got some snow!! Well maybe just an inch but, SNOW nontheless. This is her first real experience with the beautiful blankets of white that you can see reflected in her eyes.

So when Jenn brought in her 2 youngins she also brought in some extended family for their own session. Micah is Jenn's adopted sister and Madlee is Micah's new little sister. Micah and Logan actually go to school together and every time I see her in the halls she gives me a big grin and a wave. Such a sweet girl. Madlee had some gorgeous baby blues and dark locks. She was a doll.

I had a BLAST photographing this extended family. It just shows that all the word family really means is that there's love & happiness abound! No matter where you're from.

I had the pleasure of photogaphing my friends children the other day. We had a more formal studio shoot for the holidays. Paisley was ALLLL smiles for the entire session and, well, Gavin has always been an absolute pleasure to be around. Jenn, I hope you're as pleased with how they turned out as I am!

Last weekend I had the pleasure of photographing my cousin Leah's wedding! This was my first wedding shoot so the nerves were endless. I wanted everything to go smoothly and make sure I got every shot I wanted. I carried my notebook (which is now lost) everywhere!

I have known Paisley's mom for almost 20 years now and I'm soooo glad I got to capture the sleepy newborn phase of her baby girls life. She is barely 2 weeks here.Babies have the best pouty lips when they're sleeping.

I had the pleasure of photographing these adorable Twin Sisters the other day! They were perfect the whole time and I think I got some pretty great shots! I was completely alone on this shot and definitely figured out a few things with the lighting. Sometimes I think it's better if you just throw me in there to figure it out alone.
